Saturday and Sunday saw a steady stream of anglers throwing flies at the new resident trout and they were not disappointed (the anglers, not the fish).
Fueled by bad coffee, donuts, bagels and fresh waffles, the early morning crowd got into the action early.
The only unhappy fisherman was Rollie Johnson who gave up his "First Fish" title to novice fly fisherman Michael "Chardonnay" Herman. Well Done Mikey!!!
Paul "When I fish, I fish!" Defilippo blew the dust off his 5wt rod and showed the crowds that he still has that killer instinct, landing trout with effortless abandon.
Fishing, and the weather, was good all weekend with many rainbow trout picked up on the Opening Day staple fly, the Woolly Bugger. Olive was the color of choice but the new fish were not too picky. Over the weekend rainbows and browns were taken on a mix of streamers and nymphs. A few brown trout were caught and the very visible golden trout was hooked but not landed. Brookies are in there but seemed a little fly-shy.
The fishing should only get better so head over to the pond and wet a line.
A big thank you to the members who arrived early on Saturday morning to get the coffee pot going, to those who donated the baked goods and those who performed a clubhouse clean-up on Sunday morning.
